This past summer I was utterly amused at the obsession with the Fifty Shades of Grey book series. I especially enjoyed seeing women reading the book in places such as my swim club, at the airport, and other public spaces. If you haven’t read the books, they are incredibly graphic depictions of a dom/sub relationship. While the S & M community takes issue with some of the issues portrayed in the series, I was struck with how graphic the books are. It’s essentially a pornographic pageturner. So when the ladies at the swim club last summer would say, “Oh! Are you reading the book too?” I really wanted to respond, “I love the butt plug chapter the best. What part did you enjoy?”
Being a swinger, I didn’t think I had all that much to learn from the Fifty Shades series, but it turns out I was wrong. Mr. D. and I didn’t think we were into S & M, but the books inspired me to expand my horizons and I was shocked at how I responded. I think what makes the book appealing is that the girl in it is your everyday girl next door. It makes you think, “If she likes nipple clamps despite her inhibitions maybe I would as well.”
I listened to most books on my iPod. One day I was driving home from dropping my kid off at summer camp and listened to a scene about the joys of nipple clamps. So while driving down the road on this very long drive, I noticed a had a couple of chip clips among the bags of food in the passenger seat. I popped them onto my nipples and was SHOCKED at what happened next. These were tight clips and my nipples were being squeezed far harder than fingers or a hand ever does. Within a minute or so of this painful sensation, I was squirting. Yes right there as I was driving. I don’t recommend that you try this scene while driving. Honestly I probably wouldn’t have either if I had known what would happen. I was shocked myself. I am not usually a squirter. Since then I have found that very intense/painful nipple stimulation is indeed a quick gateway to the vagina fountain. Who knew?
Upon getting home I thought it would be wise to upgrade from binder clips to nipple clips designed for play. I was amused to find entire sections of Fifty Shades of Gray toys in both online and in-person sex shops. Even the famous gray necktie. And a whole lot of whips, handcuffs, nipple clamps, anal beads (got me some of those too), riding crops and more. The intersection of pain and pleasure is still new for me and makes me nervous. But we have taken the first step and it is a whole lot of fun.
