That’s the number of published posts on this website.
And that is amazing.
I’m not bragging, I’m legitimately amazed that we’ve gotten here. There were such humble beginnings, when Swingset launched, its first two weeks were incredibly short product reviews. Reviews of stuff we just had around the house. Really because we had no idea what things would look like yet, and we were having scheduling problems getting to record our first episode of the podcast.
We didn't even know if the website would HAVE much content besides the podcast back then. What if no one read the site and only subscribed to our show? What if no one downloaded the show and only looked at the minimal and mediocre content? It was an experiment in vanity. That people should listen to me. That people should feel I had something worthwhile to say on a topic that they already sorta knew about. Or didn't.
I could never have foreseen the growth.
I'm going to keep this simple. In the time since post 1, we have gotten over 100 episodes of the podcast under our belts, launched two secondary podcasts (and cancelled one), brought on an amazing wealth of bloggers to tell their stories on the Swingset, had articles, advice columns, gone to two conferences to do our thing live in front of incredibly appreciative audiences. It has all been wonderful. It has opened doors that I never thought would open for me.
This is my opus.
As a guy who can't sit still, I've started many projects in my life, in a variety of media, and none had ever really lasted beyond nine-months. Swingset was the first project that continued, and grew, and grew, and produced, and evolved. It is a living and breathing thing, now. It has introduced me to one of the greatest communities I've ever encountered. Has allowed me to meet (and hug) amazing people like Tristan Taormino, Reid Mihalko, Dylan Ryan, Carol Queen, Robert Lawrence, and many others. It brought some of the most important people in my life to me. Without Swingset, I never would've found Ginger, and Shira, and Miko, and Ophilia, and so many people who I am ashamed to say I couldn't ever name them all, or effectively say how important they all are to me.
Looking forward, there are two books (we're actually gonna, you know, get academic…but with parenthesis and brackets of course), two new podcasts coming down the pike, a host of new bloggers and article writers, more conferences, going back to Desire in November, and so many other things.
I am humbled. I am proud. I am excited.
Thank's for swinging by.
