A few years ago we made plans with a fairly newbie couple – the first time we were with a third couple. We went to a dance club and then planned to meet up at a hotel. The newbie couple never showed. We had fun with the other couple, so no worries.
Then the newbie couple wanted to make a plan with just us. So we drove an hour to their town. When we got there, the couple texts up that they don’t want to play that night but maybe we could go to a strip club? Sigh. We had a fun evening with a group of friends that we met at the club, but I swore off this couple. They clearly didn’t know what they wanted.
So we got an email last week. It’s the newbie couple. But they promise they aren’t newbies anymore. “We’re not so shy anymore.” Would we like to get a drink?
I was reluctant. Burned twice. Do we want to go down this road again? But they were willing to come to our town. So we approached the evening as we were having drinks with a like-minded couple but little hope of much else. As fate would have it, we had such wonderful evening with this not-so-newbie couple. The chemistry was so great that we invited them back to our house – something that we rarely do for privacy reasons. The chemistry was just as hot back in the bedroom. Four hours later, we finally said good night with promises that we should meet again.
So, here’s to second (or third?) chances. There’s always hope for a fantastic connection I guess. Time can heal newbie worries perhaps and turn tentative couples into a very hot pair.
