Review: KinkLab’s Neon Wand Power Tripper Attachment

Review: KinkLab's Neon Wand Power Tripper AttachmentIt's possible that I've used the KinkLab Power Tripper add-on for the spectacular Neon Wand product in a way that (while I'd never say nobody) few ever have before. But I should back up. About a year ago, during a long evening of great food, great conversation, and great wine, I was introduced to the Neon Wand. This device is the less powerful younger cousin of the Violet Wand; a device that flings electricity through glass attachments and zaps whomever is on the other end with an adjustable level of juice.

Yes, this is a toy for electricity play.

I'll be honest, right off the bat, I don't like the sensation of being zapped by this device. I've heard it described as the sensation of being tattooed. For me it feels like some of the worst static electric shocks I've ever received, coupled with that time I tried to change out the outlets without shutting down the power breaker to the room. Not so fun to me. But having seen how excited some of the people I've used the Neon Wand on get, I would wager that like many of the Advanced Kinky Arts, I'm just not quite the target demographic. And of course, that's ok.

All that said, way back at Kendra Holliday‘s Queen of Hearts Ball I saw a demonstration of the Violet Wand that included an attachment that transferred the juice to a person, who could then zap those around them. I'd hoped to find this attachment for the Neon Wand, but never could. Until our awesome friends over at SheVibe dangled theirs in front of me. I couldn't say yes quick enough to wanting to check out the Power Tripper attachment from KinkLab and put it through its paces.

Ophilia (half of The Kinky Geeks) is a connoisseur of the Advanced Kinky Arts, and happens to be in that demographic that I mentioned above. She'd thoroughly enjoyed having purple and pink tendrils of electricity arcing to her skin. So when I said “Look what I've got…” she made a very excited noise that I cannot adequately convey through text.

The Power Tripper consists of the end that you insert into the Neon Wand, a long cable, and a flat (though slightly rounded) panel of metal. This is designed to be pressed against the skin. I tucked it into the waistband of my pants. The directions cautioned me not to turn the dial very high at all to use this, so (already fearing and respecting electricity) I turned it all the way down, then a scoosh up. Unfortunately, nothing happened here. Another scoosh, I extended my finger, a simulacrum of a small extraterrestrial, and ZAPPP!

Ophilia jumped and squealed. I jumped too. Then I grabbed the Neon Wand and turned it off.

“Aww,” sad Ophilia.

“That's really not my…um…bag…baby.” I replied. She pouted. I relented. Trying to find a happy medium between off and very very low, I turned the device back on. I zapped her a few more times, flinching every time, as her squeals became more delighted.

I scrunched my mouth and gave it a good think. A glance at the instructions revealed that I could use this with metal toys, allowing me to extend the distance from me (and perhaps, I wagered, cut down on the sensation for myself).

I flipped through the toy rolodex in my mind (do people even use those in their heads anymore? or is it a lazy writer troupe? perhaps toy virtual database app?) and considered the obvious friends from nJoy. Oh, my, could this take the eleven to a whole new level? Standing before my closet, looking up, I noticed something…interesting. Up there on the top shelf. With the Halloween costumes.

“Close your eyes,” I commanded Ophilia Tesla, as I slipped into something more comfortable.

It worked. The transfer from my fingers to the extenders to Ophilia's skin. I could see the electricity arcing between the ends of my now metal extended fingers to her skin. I could draw all four of the blades across her arm and she felt the crackle of electricity down each one.

Have a guess? Wolverine's Adamantium Claws? No. But very close. You see, a handful of years ago, a company produced something I'd always wanted: a full size and accurate metal reproduction of Freddy Krueger's claw glove from A Nightmare on Elm Street. You know, as accurate as you can make it with blades that don't cut. But they do make the awesome clinking together sound. And, turns out, they make an awesome conductive surface to transfer electricity from the Neon Wand, to the Power Tripper attachment, to the waiting and goose-bumped skin of my waiting victim.

(I know, Freddy Glove and the word victim perhaps should stay out of the same paragraph.)

After the excitement, and the unexpected kinkiness of making this whole Freddy Glove Electrification setup work, we explored using it with the metal toys in our collection. All performed rather admirably.

Now that I've removed my barrier-to-entry (not liking pain too much) I can fully concentrate on my playmates' (or slaves') needs and desires.

I'm impressed by the Power Tripper, it did exactly what I'd wanted, as well as a few things that didn't work so well for me, but would certainly amuse fans of power exchange. (Heh, get it? Power exchange? Huh? No one? Ahem.)

Thanks SheVibe for getting me to do perhaps the kinkiest thing I've ever done. (Not electricity play. Specifically adding Freddy Krueger to the mix.)

  1. Great that you are reviewing contact pads! They create entirely new categories of pervertables. 🙂

In the interest of science, you might want to check the opinion of the other “kinky geek” that experienced this recently. #justsaying #evilgrin
